Teeth restoration with resin-based composites
Teeth restoration is renewing the form, colour and functions of teeth.
The achievements of modern stomatology allow to call restoration “artistic” because the results of restoration can be compared with a work of art.
What does the beauty of a tooth consist of?
Form, colour, lucidity, shine are the components on the basis of which a dentist can create a tooth identical to the natural one. When making aesthetic restoration a dentist is equal to an artist, sculptor and even psychologist, all in one.
The dentist's hands and his delicate artistic taste are the main guarantee of success.
A restored tooth does not differ from a natural one, its solidity is not less than that one of natural enamel. Aesthetic restoration can be done only with the usage of resin-based composites. Most of you have heard the dentist's question: “With what material should I fill in the tooth?” Only specialists know a great deal of various methods and materials of tooth restoration.
First of all, you are to listen to doctor's opinion, because only he can define which material exactly suits in each separate case.
Colour is an important factor for patients of different ages. It is known that when people become adult their teeth become darker. Very often simple teeth whitening gives the patient a younger look and vise versa, when selecting a darker shade we may artificially make the patient look older. An important criterion of tooth aesthetics is its shape. An ideal one is considered the shape of a tooth that has not suffered from natural and pathologic dental abrasion and has a sharp texture cutting edge.
Wrong modelling of vestibular surface and tooth equator affects rays reflection from the surface. It can lead to visual tooth widening or narrowing. We should not forget about the shining that healthy enamel is characteristic of. The tooth surface is to shine. The intensity of knolls, depth of fissures and slope angle affect not only the ability of a tooth to participate in the act of chewing, but the solidity of the construction created during restoration.
Restoration differs from teeth filling: the task of filling is to renew functional characteristics of a tooth, while during restoration lost tooth tissues are filled with material imitating dentine, enamel, their lucidity and colour scheme.
Owing to recent rapid development of dentistry there has appeared an opportunity to perform restoration even if a tooth is strongly ruined. The increase of restoration applying cases allows to use it in such cases in which there was no alternative to crowns several years ago. In this case soft tooth preparation is performed. It is oriented on the defect, unlike vast bagging around the periphery in case when crowns are made. Only pathologically changes tooth tissues are grinded. Even the thinnest tooth sides are preserved if they are healthy. From 'a weak point' in past they have turned into supporting constructions nowadays, which increase the solidity of restoration.
Dentists at our clinic will make the right choice for the patient: whether to perform restoration with resin-based composite or to select an affordable variant of teeth prostheses.
