Dental implantation
Implantology is an introduction of non-organic substitutes of lost organs into the organism. In dentistry all absent teeth can be replaced with the help of implantology. Such substitute is called implant.
Dental or tooth implant is a post of 3 to 5 mm in diameter.
Dental implant is made of titanium group metals - titanium and zirconium.
Implantology is one of the dentistry branches that has been successfully developed for 30 years already.
Today the market of dental services is so broad that very often when trying to choose anything we get lost in the variety of modern materials and methods. Thus, many patients have a lot of questions dealing with implantology and implants making.
There are about three hundred implant-systems all over the world.
Implantation is an alternative to removable dentures.
Terms of implant osseointegration
According to the two-step method on the upper jaw:
- six months (root part osseointegration);
- + 10-14 days (gum healing).
After this period of time crowns may be cemented.
According to the two-step method on the lower jaw:
- three month (root part osseointegration);
- + 10-14 days (gum healing).
After this period of time crowns may be cemented.
According to the one-step method:
If the bone density is good and primary fixation is 35 N/cm, crowns may be cemented in 21-30 days on any of the jaws.
Very often we may hear that some people are afraid of turning to the dentist. I n fact, it is not the fear of procedures, it is the fear of visiting the dentist.
Of course, lately dentistry made a great step forwards. New medicines, anesthetics, methods and equipment have appeared.
Yes, actually, into the live bone we screw an implant (root analogue) that is a titanium screw. It is not a pleasant procedure, but it is less traumatic than tooth extraction.
The only expected result may be edema, the intensity of which is different in each situation.
After the operation medicines are prescribed. The necessity of taking pain-killers disappears in one day after operation.
A point of honour for a dentist is to relieve a patient from any unpleasant feelings. The question of patient's trust to dentist is very important.
At our clinic two dentists-implantologists regularly consult patients.
